Lea Christophersen, Vocational Officer

My role includes liaising with firms to ensure that you are given the opportunity to gain valuable insight into the legal profession, be that through open days, presentations, workshops, mock interviews or otherwise. A great deal of focus will be put on the legal sector. However, being aware of the range of possible career paths available to law graduates, the scope of events goes beyond that into other industries too.

Attending and participating in vocational events has many benefits. Besides allowing you to familiarize yourself with the application process and requirements, they aim to increase your commercial awareness and help you gain various skills, like negotiating. Furthermore, they provide chances to network with prospective employers as well as other students, and enable you to put questions to representatives of firms, which will assist you in making your career choices. Not to mention some events will be a credible addition to your CV!

The Law Society will help you hit the ground running when it comes to planning your career. This will prove very important due to the rigid application process and competitive nature of the legal profession.
