Dear Students,

Firstly, congratulations on successfully obtaining a place to study Law at King’s College London. The KCL Law Society is here to assist you on your journey, from preparing the most high-profile social events to providing you with information on the range of professional opportunities open to you once you have completed your Law degree.

As Vocational Officer, my role is to ensure that you are provided with a range of vocational events where you have the opportunity to liaise and network with employees of world renowned Law firms as well as those coming from other professional backgrounds into which a Law degree can help you gain access. It is my job to make sure that you are aware of all of the formal presentations, interactive workshops and more informal networking sessions held both on-campus at KCL and off-campus at firm’s offices elsewhere in central London, and to assist in organising these events to tailor to your needs as new students of Law.

Attending such events is always helpful and enjoyable, and provides you with the chance to learn of the skills required to work successfully within the legal sector, and also with the opportunity to meet and get to know some of the most reputable legal professionals in the country. With so much of the professional world today being about who you know as much as about what you know, learning to liaise with such individuals at such events is key to ensuring a high-flying career in both the legal sector and elsewhere.

I wish you the best of luck in your endeavours, and am sure you will enjoy your first year as a Law student of King’s College London.
