Dear Students,

It is a pleasure to welcome you all to not only one the best universities in the country but also one of the best places to study law. The ability to offer persuasive arguments and convince another of the merits of one’s opinion is an essential skill in any career path and even more so in the legal field. Aside from the personal benefit in developing these skills, it is considered an essential pre-requisite by law firms and chambers. As Mistress of Debates and Moots, it is my responsibility to organise and promote opportunities for our members to showcase and develop their skills in these areas.

We provide regular opportunities for students to compete not only against fellow King's law students but also law students from other universities and the Inns of Court. This year we are hoping to create more opportunity for participation especially for novice mooters. We are committed to finding and nurturing new talent providing them with the skills and experience that would ensure success.

In order to ensure that our members are able to hone their skills and better reach their potential we will be organising training events and mooting workshops throughout the academic year. We will also be working with other societies to provide formal as well as informal debates on topical issues to encourage participation if you find mooting to daunting. The Law Society will keep you informed of such events and opportunities throughout the year, however if you are interested in debating/mooting or have any questions, then please feel free to send me an e-mail.
